I fell in love with this top not just because of the gorgeous lace and ruffle detail (yes I am addicted, I know) but how versatile it is and how it will go with so many things. I’ve paired it here with my fave distressed denim jeans and knee high boots for an edgier look for dinner and a movie date night with the hubby, but I could easily wear it with a pencil or midi skirt for a more formal look, or even tailored pants or shorts. I know it may look like I am enjoying summer weather, it is technically winter here, so I opted to wear a white singlet underneath. Yes, you heard me, it is winter here so I’m wearing a singlet. Not a coat. A singlet. 😛 #brisbanelife. But you could also wear it with just a nude strapless bra if you didn’t want the straps showing- in my case I wore a strapless bra for a cleaner look but didn’t mind my singlet straps showing- it’s almost part of the look. If you’ve shopped from Asos before you’ll know they have a Tall and Petite range. This top doesn’t come in regular, I bought it in tall only because they had my size, but I think the ‘tall’ size would suit most people- as you can see it’s not crazy long or anything. It’s in stock in multiple sizes and would make a perfect staple addition to your wardrobe! I love it when other people share good finds, so I hope you like when I do the same! 🙂
One of my absolute fave looks is to pair a gorgeous detailed top with jeans and simple heels- I think this really gives the top a chance to shine. This top from Sunday Styler has it all- polka dots, ruching and ruffles galore! The black colour gives it an understated look and I added a few black accessories to pull the whole look together. I’ve also worn this top with midi skirts for a totally glam feminine look.
I’m currently finishing up what was such a fab weekend. Weekends are funny things- I feel like you need to have a perfect mixture of getting out of the house and spending time with friends and loved ones, relaxing at home, doing chores and getting things done, and if I have too much of one of these things I feel like it wasn’t a ‘success’- weird right! I think when you work Mon-Fri you put a lot of pressure on the weekend, when really you can still do heaps throughout the week! (Yes I’m late to the party and only realising this now!) Do a load of laundry in the morning before work- saves you doing it on a Saturday (or not doing it and feeling guilty!) Or go out on a date night on a Thursday (like we did last week) and in a way it feels extra special because it’s mid-week. Anyway these are my Sunday night musings!
On that note, I am off to continue watching Big Little Lies- it’s super intense! Has anyone else watched it?
I hope you all had a fabulous and happy weekend no matter what you did!
Mother’s Day is one of my favourite holidays of the year because it’s a reminder to thank one of the most important people in our lives for everything they do for us. This year we hosted a lovely relaxing lunchat our house. We went for a Spanish theme and Boyi cooked chorizo croquettes and an amazing paella, and of course we had champagne! I wanted to wear something pretty and elegant, and this gorgeous floral blouse was perfect. And look- ruffle sleeves! This top has my heart. <3 I thought a midi skirt would keep the look elegant, and I think the blush pink complements the navy and floral. I’ll be honest, although I love them my heels didn’t last very long- I mean I’m at home and want to be comfy so my slippers were a no-brainer. 😉
This outfit is perfect for any event- lunch, dinner, work, church, date night. For an edgier look just swap the midi skirt for jeans and you’re good to go!
I’m so grateful for my mum, I don’t know what I’d do without her! I also have an amazing mother-in-law, so I feel very blessed. Here’s to the amazing women in our lives! I only hope I can be half as good a mother one day as my mum is. <3
