Summer reading list- Your vacation book guide!

Pajamas- Myer (sold out, but similar here, here, here and here)

I thought I would change it up a bit and share something else that is dear to me- reading! I’ve always loved reading, and now that I’m older, it’s the perfect way to unwind in bed after a long day, and spending the day reading by the pool or beach is one of my fave things to do on a relaxing vacation!

Today I’m sharing 5 books all read and recommended by me!

The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon

Most of my favourite books are ones that transport me to a new place- through rich descriptions, strong character development and thrilling story lines. The Outlander series is no exception-the first book is set in Scotland, the second in Paris, etc, so you know you’re in for a treat. At its core it’s a love story, but it’s also exciting, historical and funny. I actually read the first book on our honeymoon! An entertaining and easy read, I recommend starting with Outlander and you’ll be hooked on the whole series. (They’ve also made it into a show on Netflix- it’s okay, but do yourself a favour and read the books instead!)

The Seamstress by Maria Duenas

My dear friend who is currently living in Chicago sent me this book for Christmas. It is about a seamstress working in Spain and Morocco during the second World War. It combines fashion, love and espionage- a must read! This is one book I wish they would make into a movie, just to see the amazing descriptions of colourful and exotic Morocco! This is a certified summer read- I literally read it whilst sitting in the pool over Christmas haha!

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

This is the ‘self help’ book you need to read. It honestly changed my life. This book is more useful than ‘Girl Boss’ (sorry I could only get through half of it- I wanted so much to like it! 🙁 ) This book gives you practical ideas to change your habits, which, you learn as you read the book, is the cornerstone of achieving your goals. If you’re looking at upping your hustle and changing your life in 2017, you need to read this!

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I know this has been around a while, made into a movie, etc, but I think it deserves to be on this list as a quintessential thriller. I would also like to mention it for another reason- I recently read Girl on a Train- you cannot compare the two at all. I actually disliked Girl on a Train, it was only good for about 5 pages at the end. I saw the Gone Girl move first, then read the book, and the order didn’t matter at all, it was still such an enjoyable read. Check it out!

The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger

This is from the author of the Devil Wears Prada, which is a superior book, however this is still a fun, girly book. Read this if you want to turn your brain off, and just relax. It’s like watching Gossip Girl! Side note- it’s focused a lot on tennis, so if you’re not interested, give it a miss.

So there you have it! If you’d like me to do more lifestyle posts in future, let me know. I’d actually like to make this blog more of an all rounder- fashion, beauty, home, lifestyle- just sharing my life with you! I hope you all have a wonderful week. 🙂
